He was born in Winfield, Alabama. His father, Milford Baker, was a business owner and entrepreneur. His mother, Blanche Baker, worked as a beautician and teacher. He started performing at church and school, joined several musical groups, and eventually auditioned for and won the lead role of Conrad Birdie in the stage musical Bye Bye Birdie as a junior at Minor High School. The next year, he auditioned and won the lead role as George M. Cohan in the stage musical George M! After working in radio, TV, and video production during and after college at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, his life took a strange twist that landed him working as an air traffic controller in Memphis TN and Pensacola FL. Since retiring from the FAA in 2013, he has worked as a REALTOR®. Throughout the years, though, he has stayed involved in the entertainment industry, mostly as a voice talent, but he was invited in early 2017 to participate in acting classes with Jeremy London Arts Acting Studio, which motivated him to start auditioning for film roles, and kick-started his on-screen career. He recently appeared in his first national commercial In "Delivery" for Camping World. Phil has been enjoying a happy family life with his wife, Jayne, with whom he has two children, two grandchildren, five grand-kitties, and a dog named Charlie. The Bakers reside in Pensacola, Florida.
