Swiss/Italian screenwriter and director Petra Volpe studied film at the Film Academy Konrad Wolf in Potsdam Babelsberg, Germany. Her feature "The Divine Order" was selected as the Swiss entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards. The film had its international premiere at the Tribeca Filmfestival and won three awards: The Nora Ephron Prize, Prize for best actress in an International Film, and the Audience Award. "The Divine Order" was a box office hit in Switzerland and was nominated for seven Swiss Film Awards and won three. Volpe's debut film "Dreamland" was nominated for four Swiss Film Awards. Volpe also wrote the screenplay for "Heidi" (2015) the internationally most successful Swiss film of all time. "Labyrinth of Peace," the mini-series she created and wrote, earned rave reviews and sold internationally. Petra Volpe lives in New York and has an office in Berlin.

The theatre's long-running play 'The Golden Sixties' was also awarded the Radok National Award for Best Play in 2013. Petra's rich experience in theatre has since attracted the attention of the film and television industry. The actress recently took on roles in Niki Caro's The Zookeeper's Wife and Julius Sevcik's The Glass Room. She has also taken on multiple television productions including a prominent role in Czech series The Zodiac Murders and upcoming Amazon fantasy series Carnival Row, as well as supporting roles in German and Austrian productions like Brecht and feature film Home is Here. With her diverse cultural background, Petra also has a great ear for languages and accents. She regularly speaks and plays in English and occasionally in German and French. While always fully immersing herself in her work (and being a scuba diver in real life), she's also learned the value of coming up for air.
