Mara Marini is a Canadian actress best known for her role as Brandi Maxxxx in the NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation. Marini was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. During her childhood, she avidly studied acting and dance. After high school, she relocated to Los Angeles where she continues to act and write.
Also known as Mara Beltrami-New Born in Milan, Italy and hailing from the Beltrami House of Fashion that was launched in the early 1900's, Mara's family began as tailors and shoemakers and evolved into clothing designers and manufacturers in the early 1920's. To day the House of Beltrami is still active in Italy. In 2004, Mara's passion for clothes had her start the Golden Needle Awards to recognize and award emerging designers. Moving from Italy to France, From France to Australia where she graduated in Architecture and Studied Acting at "Karnak Playhouse" in Mossman, Queensland, Australia with Diane Cilento and dance with Roger Hazel, at the American Dance and Musical Theater Academy in Brisbane. Mara Appeared in many live shows and television productions during her stay in Australia. Moving to Canada to join a new Dance Group and being sidetracked into radio with her own Radio Show, she took a position with MTV (Multicultural Television) in Toronto, and during her stay in Canada, after seeing the Liberace show; she became friends with his protégée Marco Valenti who later became her brother in law. In June 2006, she was given the Y.E.S. Award (Young Educated Singers) along with Dionne Warwick and Chief Bernard Parks at the LA Blues Festival. Also in June 2006 she received the "Angel Award" from Reef Check honoring Jean Michel Custeau, along with Cheryl Holdridge-Post and Suzan Hughes. On December 1, 2006, on the 70th Anniversary of the Southern California Motion Picture Council, she received the Golden Star Halo Award for her performance in theater in the role of "Wife" in the play by A. R. Guerney "The Problem". Other recipients were: Jayne Meadows, A.C. Lyles, Stella Stevens, Anne Jeffreys, Katie West, Gregg Palmer, Richard Anderson, Billy Davis Jr. and Marilyn McCoo, Morgan Woodward and Richard Anderson. Marija Omaljev-Grbic, also known as Mara Omaljev, is known for Ruza Vjetrova (2011), Lud Zbunjen Normalan (2007-2019) and Halima's Path (2012). Marija was interested in art, poetry, acting, painting and writing since childhood. Her first performance was in the Elementary school when she was in fifth grade. She continued acting in high school plays as well as in the Rovinj's theater Gandusio. She was accepted to the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo where she earned MA in Acting. Marija performed in the plays of Moliere, Gogol, Sidran, Popovic, Williams, Camus, Shakespeare etc. on the main stage of the National Theater Sarajevo and starred as a leading actress in more than 600 episodes in numerous Croatian and Bosnian TV Series and Sitcoms, as well as in German, Austrian, US, Turkish, Bosnian and Croatian Feature Films.
Mara Rydell was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. She is the 5th of 6 siblings and the only one in her family who developed an interest in acting. As a child, she always enjoyed reenacting scenes from movies and TV shows while dreaming of someday becoming a great actress herself. She took her first acting class in her early twenties with the incentive of her mother and soon realized that she had a passion for the craft. She worked in several theatrical plays while still living in Brazil, including a couple musical productions (Cabaret Brazil I and II, which ran for 4 years) and developed an audience who enjoyed watching her characters on stage for several years. After 10 years in theater, she joined a nationally renowned artist as a backing vocalist. Mara toured and performed extensively as part of the 13 piece band in shows across Brazil, Mexico and Portugal including performances in many Brazilian cites during the world famous Brazilian Carnival from 1996 - 1999. She eventually left the band when she moved to the United States with her husband in 1999. Mara intended to go back into acting once in the US, but her limited English interfered in the process. While learning the language, she once again turned to music and performed for 5 years as a lead singer in the Bossa Nova and Brazilian Jazz band "Ticket to Brasil" in Minneapolis, MN from 2000 - 2005 participating in several Jazz festivals including the Winnipeg International Jazz Festival in Canada. In 2012, Mara became a citizen of the United States and was also cast in an independent short film "My love and Hip Hop" produced and directed by Paula Jai Parker. In 2014 she achieved success in her first American theater production, "Doubt, a Parable" in Grand Forks, ND. She will continue to pursue her dream and wishes one day to have an opportunity to play a double role where she hopes to be able to make the audience love and hate her in one single project.
