Leanna is an award-winning playwright, translator, and librettist whose works have been performed internationally. As an actor, her extensive theatre credits have included the world premiere of Carmen Aguirre's The Refugee Hotel and the Canadian premiere of Samuel Beckett's All That Fall. Her plays Schoolhouse, The Vic, For Home and Country, and The Book of Esther are published by Talonbooks. Fluent in French, she has translated many Québec plays from French into English, some of which are published by Playwrights Canada Press. Born in Winnipeg and raised in rural Ontario, she was based in Toronto for many years, but now lives in Vancouver, Canada with her husband, the actor-writer-director Jovanni Sy. They are working on a new play together about Arthur Miller's 1983 trip to China to direct Death of a Salesman in Beijing.

A graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Drama, Leanne trained with the prestigious Atlantic Theater Company, where she received the award for "Outstanding Achievement in Studio". She later went on to receive classical training from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in her hometown of London, England. While still a student at NYU, she started working professionally as an actress in June 2012 with her role, Riley in Every Word Handwritten (RSM Creative, Dir: Kevin Slack). The film had its premiere at the Anthology Film Archives in February 2013 and was an Official Selection at the Montclair Film Festival in May 2013 as well the Big Apple Film Festival in November 2013. In fall of 2013, Leanne filmed the lead role Velana in the feature film Hybrids, a comedy about a family of vampire/witches. She starred alongside Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas) and Carolyn Hennsey (True Blood) who play her grandparents in the movie. In spring of 2014, she played a co-star role on an episode of Blue Bloods. She then went on to play the role of Carol Conway in the critically acclaimed production of Time and the Conways at the Old Globe in San Diego. The production was selected as a Critic's Choice by the LA Times. In summer of 2014, Leanne began working for MTV. She first starred in a public service announcement for the company, addressing racial bias and stereotypes. A month later, she was cast as Megan O'Dell in the new series One Bad Choice. The public service announcement first aired in July 2014 while the series is set to premiere in late 2014.
